This was my room on Friday night...we had just gotten home from the mall where we had to buy a gift for our friend's baby shower on Saturday...or I guess they called it a "sprinkle" since it's their second child. I was trying to think of something cute to do instead of just buying one outfit or toy and we ended up buying what I titled a "onesie wardrobe"...half a dozen cute ones from three different stores wrapped up into a little tower with a set of hangers tucked into one of the boxes and one hanger used to make a card with...
Besides the baby gift I had my sister-in-law's birthday gift, my little sister who will be three years old this week, and a classmate of Mac's gifts to wrap and cards to make...and about a half dozen thank you notes to make and write.
Here's the first one that I love and will probably be copying to make birthday thank you notes in a few weeks...I used a rub-on on the envelope and it finally occurred to me to start using my shamefully huge label collection along with my typewrite for address labels...
So then I typed other labels...
for other thank you cards...
and then I used the same stamping idea with a different color combo for my sister-in-law's card...
that went along with her gift...a collection of scrapping stuff since I feel that I'm chief in charge of getting her new supplies since she started scrapbooking about a year ago...
look for me to open a kit company soon since I had too much fun putting this all together (100% totally joking)...then I sort of pseudo wrapped it to get it into a priority mailing box and off to Iowa to hopefully get there in time...
then there was my sister's gift...since she'll be three there's lots of fun stuff I can start getting her like board games...so her gift this year is Candyland and some other cute sandwich building game...for her card I decided to go back to something I LOVED making years ago...a shaker box...for a good laugh check out some of my old ones...did you notice my prowess with the Sizzix machine? Now you know the answer if you ever ask yourself, "I wonder if Nora has always been this talented???" clearly the answer is a resounding "Heck yes!". :) Here's my 2008 version...hopefully she'll be entertained by shaking it...
the messy double-stamped "happy"s have a totally racially inappropriate story to go along with them...in typical Nora fashion I stamped the cursive happy birthday crooked and decided to try to make it look cuter with a few scattered little "happy"s...you have to use a really light touch with those tiny type stamps to look good and with that first happy up there I was too light and the very top of the "h" didn't come out...do you know what that means it spelled? Um, "nappy"...I just sat there staring at it envisioning my own Don Imus scandal since my sister is half African-American and in the past my dad's wife has been quick to confront situations with extended family members when she has perceived prejudice...so I just stamped it again right over it and did again on purpose since I've convinced myself that if you duplicate a mistake it totally makes it look intended. (I sincerely hope no one is offended by my story...as I said, I know it's inappropriate and please know I am well-intentioned, but just had to sit back and laugh at my dumb luck)
Then there was the gift for Mac's classmate...I used a piece of a Hambly overlay to make a quick little tag/card type thing...
A couple more thank you notes...
and finally a layout I made with hidden journaling in the envelope...I still can't decide if I want to tear off those strips to make an even box or leave them long...
Thankfully my room is all cleaned up now and my to-do list all checked off and I can go read for school...don't I have my priorities in proper order? Craft first, study later. :)
