of the day...after nine hours at school...three classes, meeting with a professor, and then learning how big and scary the school library really is as I looked for books for my research paper.
Earlier in the day before I left for school I took some photos from around the house since I was inspired by seeing this...
From the looks of the back of our guest bathroom door it seems Mac was exited about Earth Day this morning...on the way to school he informed me he had picked out his uniform in symbolic Earth Day fashion...green shirt for the trees, blue pants for the ocean, and brown Converse for the dirt. :)
It got me thinking about the little changes we've made around here in the last couple of years...a far cry from when we moved into the house in 2000 and I was annoyed that the trash collection gives you a recycle bin so that meant I had to have two trashcans...I can't imagine all the crap that would have come out of our one little home if we haven't had that recycle trashcan all these years now.
Other little changes...
Unplugging stuff when we're not using it
Keeping a basket of rags handy in the kitchen to use instead of paper towels
Reusable bags...we have had six of these for about a year and love how much they can hold on grocery and Target trips...we just keep them in a basket in the car and try to remember to take them in the store with us (although we have to walk back out to get them about a 1/3 of the time still)
Composting...Sean put down the first batch in our garden a couple of months ago and it's amazing how well everything is growing
I can't remember when exactly I asked Sean to buy me a plant instead of buying me a bouquet of flowers on my birthday or our anniversary...now our garden is filling with roses...and it's pretty funny when on days like Valentine's he asks me to close my eyes and hands me barren rose roots
So that's our little bit of environmental friendliness in the Griffin household at the end of this Earth Day...hopefully by this time next year we'll be doing even more...
