I will finish the last fifteen hours of my internship
I will meet with one of my professors to start the independent study we decided to defer to summer
I will make spaghetti and italian crockpot chicken for dinner
I will share the recipe for the pasta salad I made today
I will start to get our neighborhood's 4th of July block party planned
I will will try share some crafty stuff
I will be relaxed since I just had a really fun weekend...
Sean's school district got the opportunity to buy Angels tickets half off for tonight's game so we made plans to go weeks ago...it was one of those things I looked forward to as I was writing one school paper after another. Now I'm happily seated out by the foul pole (we moved from our orginal seats where it was really crowded) tucked under the huge blanket I insisted on bringing, digging into the box of Mike&Ikes we picked up at the grocery store and I'm people watching the massive conglomeration of testosterone seated by us as they oogle the innappropriately dressed girls (since it's a pretty chilly night for those skimpy tanktops). Oh and I guess I'm watching a little baseball too. :)
I have to get to my internship for the day, but I got the next challenge done last night and wanted to share...
It's a card to tuck in Mac's bag when he flies to Hawaii in about ten days with his dad's family for a wedding...lucky guy.
I woke up with a horrid migraine so it's been a day in bed with a dark room, ice-packs, tea and toast for me up until just a little while ago when it finally seems to have dissipated.
Thankfully we had no plans today after yesterday's full day of entertaining with breakfast in the morning with friends then a barbecue dinner and an overnight stay by cousins who were in town...it was a great day though that lasted until 2am...which is the likely culprit for the migraine.
I have no fun photos or any amount of craftiness to share from the weekend so instead here's a little more from last week...
A birthday card for a party Mac went to on Friday (yet another variation)...
Of course I didn't make this but Mac came home with it from the party and wanted a picture taken since he knew he couldn't keep it forever (by the way Mac has kept his room spotless since the great spring break clean out...I am SO proud of him)
The other thing I crafted up but hadn't shared was a simple party hat for my mom...I figured it'd be fun to get a photo of her in it but she somehow ended up wearing it for half the night...
Oh and before I forget my hair...I haven't gotten a photo yet but it is the exact same haircut that I got in 2007 and 2005...I'm kind of totally boring like that.

Today I reorganized the freezer (and realized we currently have an inordinate amount of ice cream in there)...started marinating chicken breasts for tomorrow night's dinner since tonight it's hamburgers...packed up my 8.5" hair donation to send off...watered the few patches of new sod in the backyard because Sean sent an e-mail asking me to...and got a pedicure.
Oh man, do I love summer vacation.
So of course I have been making happy plans for my time off...just collecting up little "Oooohhh this summer I'll..." mental notes.
One of them is participating in the challenges here as much as possible. I just finished my first one...
Okay back to crafting more thank you notes for all the help I got with planning my mom's party...
My two finals seemed to turn out pretty well especially considering all the worrying I did...thanks so much for all the good luck wishes.
I got home from school a couple of hours ago and have been a whirling dervish of activity since that's what I have been used to for the last five months of school....cleaning in the kitchen...organizing all my notes and books from this semester...
I said last year that the hope with this bookcase was as it filled up so would my brain...they're both getting there...and I need to get more file boxes since those five are full of notes and articles.
However I am not done quite yet...I still have 30 more internship hours to finish up in the next couple of weeks and one of my classes was an independent study that my professor and I decided to wait until summer to work on...but the vast majority of my work/stress is done.
To celebrate my new summer vacation status I hastily made the decision to get my hair cut off in about an hour...so here's the blurry before shot...hopefully it'll be a cute bob cut later...
I am completely unnerved by the amount of information I am supposed to store in my head tomorrow...please think good thoughts for me...I am going to need every ounce of memorization luck you can send my way.
If you had asked me anytime before yesterday I would have told you how highly I doubted that we could actually pull off a surprise for my mom...but look at this...

I wish I could share more right now, but I have two gigantic finals on Tuesday and need to catch up on some serious studying time.
These photos (and about 195 more) are in a slide show tonight at my mom's surprise 60th birthday party. Granted she knew she was coming over here for a little dinner, but this has been actually been in the works for over a year. I am so excited that it's finally time to celebrate my mom with family and close friends.
It'll actually be five o'clock here in about nine minutes. I had some leftover pineapple juice from some chicken I'm marinating so it was time for a little impromptu pitcher of mai-tai's.
Of course my mother will probably read this and shake her head disapprovingly since she is a fervent modern-day prohibitionist.
And speaking of my mother some of you were so kind about saying how thoughtful I am to Bryce...the thing is it's simply the example my mom set for me. Even though my dear father could be a real piece of work she was always good to him for our sake...and there wasn't a time that she packed us for a trip we were going on with him that she didn't make sure to send along one of his favorite treats too.
So thanks mom...sorry about the mai-tai's. :)
Oh have we bickered over a packing list tonight...the sleeping bag is freshly washed...we have reassured that five pairs of boxer shorts for a mere two days should be plenty...and insisted that bringing your favorite jeans is probably not the best choice when you're supposed to bring clothes that can get really dirty.
Now the bags are packed and Mac cannot wait to head out to a couple of days of Outdoor Education tomorrow morning. Mac's teachers asked Bryce to be one of the parent chaperones so I packed him a little survival kit...I figured his favorite Snickers bars might help him take almost 40 kids out to the wilderness...
I got home from my internship earlier this afternoon and started scavenging the kitchen for lunch...randomly I decided on popcorn...I bought an air popper several weeks ago and hadn't used it yet...add a little melted butter and grated parmesan cheese and it was lunchtime...
We're coming towards the end of the usual Sunday night scramble...but I really got to enjoy our Mother's Day tradition earlier.
Last year my mother in her infinite wisdom suggested we all gather to eat hot dogs and italian beef sandwiches at 2pm in the afternoon...oh and the best strawberry shortcake too. This was a new idea since we usually try to stay out of restaurants on Mother's Day, but Portillo's is pretty casual so I don't think a lot of people think of it...that means we get to pile together tables out on the patio and stuff our faces...a relaxing and delicious Mother's Day for all.

Okay got to finish tweaking a final draft of a paper and get to bed...it's going to be a busy last week of school and then there are some dreaded finals in t-minus nine days.
Okay so I'm a little bit behind on life right now and just got my mother-in-law's Mother's Day gift tonight. I wanted to try to make it cute (surprise, surprise) and came up with sewing a purple polka-dotted pouch...
Which is officially my new favorite way to wrap something.

So today is National Scrapbooking Day, but I have been away eating food and more food since it also happens to be my 33rd birthday...and it was 13 years ago today that my mom got me started with this addiction...I mean hobby. :) So I decided to go through my old layouts and find 13 of my favorites...
Oh making stuff just makes me happy...yeah making stuff and eating stuff and I am a happy girl. :)
